By now definitely the term protein bars has been activating your brain, trying to describe what it is. Who wouldnt be wondering anyway when everybodys been looking for it? Would it then be so yucky? But, hey, you see a sexy chick making a beeline to the protein bar section and you think, Perhaps there is something great about those protein bars. You wouldnt like to miss this opportunity, wouldnt you?

Protein bars came upon when the concept of creating of a power bar was thought about. They were mainly made to be extra carbohydrate source for those who are always on the go. Why the demand for extra calories, huh?

This is because most of us have lifestyles that dont involve sitting in front of a PC the whole day. And because these bars are essential for those who are always on the go, nobody really bothered wondering about the taste.

Fast forward a few years and youll find tons of different protein bars and drinks, energy bars and drinks on the stands of everywhere from 7-Eleven to the local store. Yet some have serious conditions in them. They are full with too much calories, taste crappy, or are simply an energy bar. So which ones are good for you? And why should you care?

First of all, the protein bars are, of course, one great source of protein. Moreover, you can bring them and eat them anywhereon the bus, while driving, while working, everywhere! You can munch them while traveling so you dont feel those hunger pangs. And the less hungry you are, the less the likelihood that youll go on a food binge.

Second, protein meets our hunger much longer than carbohydrates (especially simple carbohydrates) do. So the trick is to search a protein bar that you like to eat, along with a good balance of protein, carbohydrates, and calories. The ideal protein proportion is between 15 and 20 grams for calories between 125 and 175. Wit this, youll be getting about 40 grams of protein for a bit over 300 calorie. If you keep this ratio, youll be able to go with your five small meals a day plan much easier.

So which are good? Well, so far, Chef Jay and its counterparts have been putting out some protein bars that arent half bad. You can also buy some Detour bars. And then theres another one called the Promax Bar. Of course, taste is all relative for each person, but I can tell you that anything with low carb on it probably contains sugar alcohol as an ingredientand tastes like crap. Still, try some of these.
