Makeup Brushes

One of the benefits of Naked Minerals™ Cosmetics is the high quality handmade genuine capra hair makeup brushes. Here are some basics on applying Naked Minerals™ and which brush is used for each particular application.

• Eyes - to lay down an even layer of eye shadow, a full, soft brush works best. A brush with short bristles is good for applying color minerals in the crease and outer corners of the eyes. Lining the eyes calls for a thin, stiff brush. To avoid putting on too much eye make shadow or blush in one swipe, blow once on the brush. What's left is the right amount.
• Eyebrows - A brow brush (either slanted or flat-topped) should be firm, not too flexible, so that shadow application can be controlled.
• Face - A large, soft brush with a tapered shape is best, since bristles of different lengths can follow the curves around the nose, chin and mouth.
• Cheeks - A blush brush, though smaller than a powder brush, should also be plush and tapered to follow the contour of the cheek.
• Lips - A stiff brush is essential. The brush tip should be slanted but not too short - otherwise the color can't be painted on evenly.

Priming Your Makeup Brushes

Naked Minerals™ brushes are a spa quality brush that has been hand made with high grade Capra hair. It is common for high quality brushes to lose some hairs while being primed. Don't panic! This is normal with all handmade quality brushes (especially kabuki brushes.)

When you first receive your brush swirl the brush around in circles inside the palm of your hand several times, this might take up to 4 or 5 times or until you have released the loose hairs.

The brushes are not shedding, the technical definition of a shedding brush is one that continues to have hairs fall out until there is none. Remember these are made by hand not a machine. This is done because we use only the natural tips of the hair and a machine cuts the natural tips off. Natural tips is what gives your skin that beautiful air brushed look and it is the brush of choice by makeup artists.
